Jon Lewis was a resident artist at Sydney's Yellow House between 1971 - 72. Since then, he has been involved in the making of experiment video with 'Bush Video'(74) and founded Greenpeace Australia, running a successful antiwhaling campaign. He has travelled and photographed throughout Australia and Indonesia, worked at the Polaroid Studio in New York City and lived in Paris for 3 years whilst teaching at the Parsons School of Design. He has exhibited at France's Museum National des Arts Afrique et Oceanie, ('93) and had his work toured throughout France and Belgium ('89-92).

In 1988 he assisted curator Djon Mundine on the Aboriginal memorial which is now installed at the National Gallery of Australia.

Lewis has held 15 one-man photography exhibitions since 1974 and is represented in collections throughout Australia, Europe and the USA and is currently showing work at The London Photographers Gallery, U.K. He also teaches at the University of Technology (Sydney).
